Long shopping day

Went to New Hope today! It's such a cute little town, with lots of strange and interesting stores. Like the sword store. Where I valiantly resisted the temptation to buy many things very outside my price range. It's a beautiful drive there too, since we go the back way. It's all hilly and windy roads, with looks at the old New England type houses, very Victorian, and farmland with cute farmhouses. I went there once during the autumn, and it was gorgeous. It looked like quintessential New England, with the old wooden houses and the red leaves everywhere. And the entire landscape is dotted with farms and small towns. This time, it wasn't quite as pretty because it was rainy and overcast. And while spring is here, the flowers haven't come out in full bloom yet, so mostly everything was grey, wet, and dead. I think we're going back sometime in April, after all the theses are finished, and it'll probably be absolutely beautiful at that time.

Then went to the mall, resisted the urge to buy another Flogging Molly CD (cheaper online) and ended up buying new platforms, which are arguably necessary. Technically, I have another pair of summer shoes, my Tevas, but they're short. And not exactly pretty. So whenever I wear them, I look short and the bottoms of my jeans drag on the ground in a horrible fashion, and when it's rainy, like today, it's not very nice at all. Ergo the new platforms. My old ones broke only after a year, didn't last very long at all. My pair before that lasted me a good two or three years. I have lots of frivolous shoes, but when I get my everyday shoes, I like for them to last a looooong time, because usually, I get quite attached to them. Whereas my frivolous shoes are generally pretty and tall and really uncomfortable. But they're pretty.... *sigh* I get very distracted by pretty things. And why is it that almost all pretty things to wear are uncomfortable?

New Hope! Squee! I love New Hope! I know exactly what sword store you're talking about, although now I'm really bothered I can't remember the name of it; it used to sell medival clothes, too, but now the clothes and weapons are in separate shops. I actually have a dress from that place; my sister's birthday is Halloween and her sweet sixteen was a masquerade. I love it.

It is such a fun little town, isn't it? Great shops. And good ice cream.

Do you know the story of Lambertville High School, on the Jersey side of the river? That is some creepy shit. Should visit that one day, too. Or one night, actually, for the full effect.
