Ooh Maria Luisa Bombal! We read her in high school, because La Amortajada (The Death Shrouded? I have no idea how that got translated) is a classic.

I really liked Laura Esquivel's Like Water for Chocolate too, but I tried to pick up this other one that was popular back home--The Law of Love? -- and I just couldn't handle it. I don't know anything about Swift as Desire though.

The Hypersexuality of Race makes me salivate. :) That sounds interesting as does Trin Min Ha's work. I actually haven't read her though I know I should *sigh*.
