I've been saving "Life as We Knew it" for when I'm in the mood for depressing apocalyptic stories.
I passed by the Takaki because the book seemed too dated, but it sounds like it's useful even if it doesn't cover contemporary sociopolitics, since it covers non-East Asian Americans. I haven't seen much stuff around that covers non-East Asians. Then again, I've only been casually looking.
The Walker sounds good, even if I'd have to set it aside for time when I can deal with something that heavy.
