5x09 The Sting
I totally freaked out at the very beginning because I thought there was a chance that Harry might leave. This show has me so paranoid! For a good reason, too! I hope it isn't using this to lull me into complacency ala Tom in the beginning of S3. I really don't think it is, since it's Harry, but well, you never know!
I so need a Harry and Ruth icon. I'm not sure if I ship them per se, but I love the tentative, unspoken bond between the two, and I totally squeed over the bus conversations and the last few minutes of the episode.
I actually really like Juliet, even though I feel like I should be primed to hate her. But she's an interesting counterpart to Harry and a great person for the team to bounce off of. Plus, she treads that very fine line between being an enemy to Harry and co. and being a reluctant ally, which makes her doubly interesting. And finally, woman in charge = nifty in my book.
Jo and Zaf continue to not get that much screentime, but I really liked the conversation between the two re: Harry. Zaf hasn't even been around that much, has he? But it seems like he's not only personally loyal to Harry (probably not as much as Adam and Ruth), but that he's also very, very, very against things that go against the civil rights of people, a la this ep. and an earlier one that I can't quite remember.
And I just love scenes in which they're breaking into things or trailing someone or whatnot and all the cool spy stuff!
4x10 Diana
Holy fucking shit did they just kill Adam?!
Quickly jotting down notes so I can watch the season opener right this second oh my god.
Crap, except I have to wake up early tomorrow.
What to do, what to do?
Anyway: I thought the whole rogue agent thing and the lockdown was a little bit of a downer for a season finale, given that this is Spooks and usually they have me by the edge of the seat throughout the entire episode. I mean, I was tense, but I was also sort of bored during the entire Angela mind manipulation thing. Given the previouslies, I was a little scared that they were going to fire Harry after the "Gotcha! Nope, just kidding..." of the last episode, and then I was a little scared that they were going to kill Ruth, all things considered.
Ruth was brilliant and I love her and I love that she stole a micro-whatever reader from work.
I heart Malcolm and Colin SO MUCH, particularly Colin's line about the mice. And poor Malcolm, freezing up in the field. I don't blame him.
Jo gets a little more development; I like that she completely hates Angela now.
Not that much for Zaf still, sigh. Though his piecing together of events was nifty.
But... not Adam!! Please? Show, you break my heart.
