Fullmetal Alchemist, ep. 26
I'm not sure if I'm grateful for the more light-hearted episode after the wringer of the one before or if I am still traumatized. Anyway, this is a bit of a fluff episode. All the good plotty stuff is in the background, with Mustang and Hawkeye's move to Central suddenly uncertain and with mysterious forces in the military keeping Armstrong from telling Mustang things. And they closed the Hughes investigation! Evil.
I was inordinately touched by Scie... the book girl's pleading for Mustang to reopen the investigation. I suspect the Fuhrer is evil and blocked it. And now it's just Mustang and Hawkeye behind Mustang's rise to the top, and I fear what he'll do for it. He's uncovered the secret of human transformation (yes? or just started), and the line from the last episode about standing at the funeral and thinking about it chills me. I don't know what Roy is going after, but then, Hawkeye and Hughes trust him, and I trust them.
I like Winry. I was a little on the fence about her at first, especially with the cuteness and the Designated Romantic Interest-ness, but luckily they haven't been really slamming that in. Plus, she's a mechanic geek. That, if nothing else, completely won me over. And I never thought about Ed's quest for a real arm and leg affecting the way Winry thought about her automail work.
And of course Pinako was a fright! Muhahaha. And Ed and Al's sensei shows up as well, which will be fun. Yay, strong females!
