I am so on the fence about this show! I watched the first several episodes, enough to see that it is awesome, and I've been recommending it to people right and left. But not actually watching it myself. It's too much like a bad day at work (the flashbacks especially).
When the clients at work get into situations like that, or tell us stories like that from their past, obviously in one sense it's worse because they're REAL PEOPLE. But as the person hearing the story, it's a totally different experience when you're actually in a position to help! That ability to be useful to the person and to help lighten their burden goes a long way toward balancing out the heartache.
But when fictional characters are suffering, I'm helpless. So I just haven't found the emotional energy to watch the rest of the show.
