Weekend almost over, yay! Normally I do not cheer the end of a long weekend, but this year, I so am.

Too many people, too much driving, too much wrangling for parking spaces, too much attempting to be on time and not and forgetting assorted things. Also, I didn't even have that much good food, and considering all the nasty parking, I didn't even get that many good bargains.

I have instead overcompensated by spending entirely too much money. Sigh. Must budget better next week.

Loot includes:
- Samsonite luggage set consisting of a wheeled carry-on bag large enough for more-than-overnight-less-than-a-week trips and a duffle bag. $70! I am actually proud of this one.

- Um. Too much yarn. In my defense, some of it is for Christmas presents. Maybe Christmas presents for next year, considering the rate I finish things, but still! Also, I wandered into my local yarn store today to find some gorgeous colorways of self-striping yarns for 70% off! Four dollar yarn! 100% wool! Soft! Beautiful colors! I got Cognac and Lilac Blossoms.

- I bought Angel Sanctuary 13-16 (Eng.) and Nana 16 (orig.) from Kinokuniya. I probably should have waited for AS, but I wanted to read more.

- I nearly bought Night of the Beasts, which I saw advertised in Her Majesty's Dog. I managed to resist and only ended up getting a new Judith Ivory (ok, not new, but a reissued Judy Cuevas I've never heard of) and Rent and Pride and Prejudice (I am strangely fond of Keira Knightley in this one!). I probably shouldn't have gotten anything, but the DVDs were $8 each, and I know they will be comfort movies.

- Have spent too much money on food that wasn't even that tasty. Sigh. Weekend will be over after classmates visit, but hopefully that will be less expensive and more fun, given that it is hot pot, and it is perfect weather for hot pot.

In other news, it's grey and rainy here, and it finally feels like November. Ugh. I think I will curl up on the couch with rats, knit a scarf and watch Rent and sing aloud at the top of my lungs later tonight.

Do not buy Night of the Beasts! The storyline is okay, but I do not like the art. Afterschool Nightmare is better.

It really is about a hermaphrodite. It is by the mangaka of July 1999, Shanghai (not Hong Kong), although much later, so the art style is very different. So far I like it, although it leaves me feeling unsettled and disturbed and not necessarily in the way the mangaka wants me to be. But we'll see.

May I request a post quickly rounding up your recent manga readings? It wouldn't have to have more content than your notes above. These are things we all need to know.

OK! I do want to finish writing up my trial, though; all the next posts will be the interesting bits about the bugfuck crazy unusual witness and the obnoxiously nitpicking and passive-aggressive thoughtful jurors.

Thanks for the warning!

It is so cold here, I am going to give in and turn on the heat for the first time this year.

Eeeee! A little top with little cap sleeves? Fingerless gloves?

I look good in dark red, by the way. Brings out the evil in my eyes.

I also like the striped yarn. A lot.

Because it occurs to me you might know.

My little sister wore a t-shirt to Thanksgiving bearing a girl with long black hair in a (black-and-white) maid's uniform and ENORMOUS FEATHERED WHITE WINGS. I smiled, and asked what series it was from, and she completely straightfaced said she thought it was Evangelion.

Even *I* know there's no 'angel' angels in Evangelion! And I've only seen like three episodes.

Do you have any idea what it might have been from really? Not to demand that you do my homework for me, or anything, but if you happen to know I'm curious. Or at least it'll give me options to narrow down with further websearching. :->

The long black hair makes me think it is probably not from Evangelion, as anime characters are often drawn in getup they have no logical business wearing, but none of the young female characters in Evangelion have long black hair. It's possible the anime girl's from an angel/maid-fetish-yay! anime, or is just a drawing of a girl in that style with no actual series affiliation. Did she say where she got the shirt?

Claire's. Not that that narrows it much. :->

That sounds like a good, therapeutic night.

For additional cheering, I will tell you that I was on Capitol Hill (gay neighborhood pending gentrification) last night with a friend, and she was looking at Hello Kitty stuff in a shop window. I looked too, and saw Bleach stuff behind it, so I commented on that, and then they had a shirt with Gaara on it! So I walked along for half a block chirping about how I could buy a shirt with Gaara on it! and she had no idea what I was talking about. :)
